(Reporter Liu Xue) September 16, China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products released 2023 the first half of China's motor industry foreign trade situation analysis. Experts suggest that enterprises in the motor industry must look for new development directions and breakthroughs, to make efforts in the reform of industrial structure, technological innovation and improvement, price adjustment and other aspects. And it is recommended that the local government from a forward-looking, strategic height planning motor industry development ideas, promote the intelligent transformation of the industry.
The first half of China's exports of motor products under pressure
According to China's customs statistics, in the first half of 2023, China's exports of electrical machinery products amounted to $ 7.52 billion, down 6.4% year-on-year; imports amounted to $ 2.04 billion, down 7.8% year-on-year; trade surplus of 5.48 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 5.8%. From the monthly export point of view, March motor products exports of 1.39 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 3.6%, for the first half of the highest export value in a single month.
China Chamber of Commerce for the Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products Electrician Branch Secretary General Zhang Sen analysis that in the first half of 2023, the risk of recession in Europe and the United States is becoming increasingly prominent, South Korea, Vietnam and other export-led economies, foreign trade data are lower for several months, the decline in overseas demand, exports in general under pressure to become the general trend. The global economic growth slowdown, the domestic economic repair is less than expected is the main reason for the decline in exports of motor products.
Sub-regional perspective, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Tianjin is the first half of 2023, China's main export provinces and cities of motor products, accounting for 78.8% of China's total exports of motor products. Among them, Guangdong Province, motor products exports of 1.94 billion U.S. dollars, down 11.3% year-on-year, accounting for 25.9% of the share, is China's motor products exported to the first province; Zhejiang Province, exports of 1.56 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 7.7%, accounting for 20.7%, ranking second; Jiangsu Province, exports of 1.47 billion U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 9.7%, accounting for 19.5%, ranking third.
From the export direction, in the first half of this year, China's motor products to Europe and the United States exports declined, exports to Japan and India growth.
In the first half of 2023, China's motor products exports to North America 1.05 billion U.S. dollars, down 15.4%; exports to Europe 2.28 billion U.S. dollars, accounting for China's motor products exports as a whole 30.3%, down 9.2%. In addition, exports to Africa increased by 10.2 per cent year-on-year; exports to Latin America, Asia, down 0.3 per cent year-on-year, 4.4 per cent.
From the country point of view, the United States, Japan, Germany, Mexico, India, South Korea, Italy, Vietnam, Thailand, Russia is China's top ten export destinations for motor products, accounting for a total of 53.2% of China's total exports of motor products. Among them, China's exports of motor products to the United States 970 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 14.9%, accounting for 12.9%, ranked first; exports to Japan about 500 million U.S. dollars, an increase of 15.3%, accounting for 6.6%, listed in the second place; exports of Germany 390 million U.S. dollars, a year-on-year decline of 13.3%, accounting for 5.1%, ranked third.
In terms of imports, in the first half of 2023, China's imports of motor products from Germany increased slightly year-on-year, imports from Japan and Vietnam were declining. 2.04 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of 2023, China's imports of motor products, a year-on-year decline of 7.8 per cent. Germany, Japan, Vietnam, the United States, Thailand is China's top five sources of imports of motor products, accounting for a total share of 59.4%. Among them, about 510 million U.S. dollars of motor products imported from Germany, an increase of 1.5 per cent year-on-year, ranking the first; about 370 million U.S. dollars of motor products imported from Japan, a year-on-year decline of 33.8 per cent, ranking the second; about 130 million U.S. dollars of motor products imported from Vietnam, a year-on-year decline of 5.4 per cent, ranking the third.
China's motor industry intelligence level needs to be improved
China's motor industry after years of development, through innovation, cooperation, introduction and other ways to speed up the level of production technology, has formed a certain industrial scale and industry pattern. However, with the rapid development of information technology, intelligence has become an important trend in the industrial field, countries on the motor quality, efficiency, durability, environmental performance requirements continue to improve, to China's motor export enterprises to bring greater challenges.
Zhang Sen said, first, China's industry enterprises in the high-end equipment investment is not enough, the level of technology and the United States, Japan, Europe and other countries, compared with the first-class manufacturers, is still in a relatively backward state. Secondly, the industry's R & D platform does not play a full role, the production of high-end equipment, intelligent, green level is low, in the high-grade, precision, new motor production is still to break through. Third, the lack of high-end talents and technical teams in the field of intelligent manufacturing, the industry's poor innovation ability, largely restricting the high-quality development of China's motor industry and the level of modernisation, resulting in China's motor enterprise profitability is generally weaker, dragging down the growth of exports of electric motor products, China's motor production enterprises are urgently needed to strengthen technological innovation, accelerate the transformation and upgrading.
China's motor industry is expanding, the number of enterprises in the industry is increasing, the market competition is fierce, while there is also competitive pressure from foreign enterprises.
Zhang Sen said that in order to meet the diverse needs of the product market, enterprises must look for new development directions and breakthroughs, to make efforts in the reform of industrial structure, technological innovation and improvement, price adjustment, and other aspects of efforts to continuously expand the scale of production, and strive to reach a wider range of user groups.
Step up the development of motor industry planning to accelerate the pace of intelligent transformation
With the rapid development of the manufacturing industry, to promote high-quality development of the motor industry has become an important direction.
Zhang Sen that, in the face of fluctuations in the price of major raw materials, market competition and other industry development status quo, enterprises need to increase investment in technology research and development and innovation, master the key core technologies, accelerate industrial transformation, improve product performance and quality, and promote the upgrading of motor products. Promote the implementation of basic frontier and common key technology research and development, through R & D innovation, process improvement, process optimisation and other solutions to rising costs. Strengthen the construction of independent brands, to maintain market competitiveness, and actively explore the two major international and domestic markets, strengthen international cooperation, in the industry to occupy the first opportunity to win the advantage.
Zhang Sen suggests that the local government from a forward-looking, strategic height planning motor industry development ideas, combined with local resource conditions, the motor industry as a whole, the development of advantages, make up for shortcomings, focusing on the accumulation of key technologies; focusing on green and low-carbon, energy saving and consumption reduction, to build a coherent and orderly industrial chain, guidance to promote the modernisation of the industry; to guide enterprises to set up a global vision, benchmarking the international advanced experience, and actively seeking Guiding enterprises to establish a global vision, benchmarking international advanced experience, actively seeking new development space and new modes of cooperation in the industry, participating in industrial competition, and taking the road of open innovation and international development; regulating the behaviour of market players by means of formulating policies and standards, and providing policy support in terms of financial subsidies, tax incentives, etc. to reduce the cost of business operations and continue to optimize the business environment for enterprises, so as to promote the new development of the electrical machinery industry.
